Sunvox tracker5/18/2023 ![]() ![]() not dissimilar from sunvox in that its a tracker but also very much its own thing. random retrigger command i could play with all day/ has a granular synth engine built in!! the thing is brilliant. My friend brought over the polyend tracker.I loved it to bits!! super intuitive if you are used to tracker workflow. most of my production is sample based and the sample editor in renoise is really powerful so I spend most of my time between that and a digitakt. You could also build your own Dirtywave m8 with a Teensy 4.1 board by flashing the headless firmware and running it through your computer. ![]() The synth engine is a pleasure to explore, I enjoy the block based, off grid sequencer. That said, check out SunVox, its one of the greatest pieces of music software around IMO and also tracker based and it will run on your toaster. Long time tracker user, renoise for the last decade before that madtracker2 and the rest.i have used sunvox some the last few years and it is really great I agree. Sorry for the long winded question, it's just the way I am. I currently use a volca bass, a volca drum, a volca fm, an rd-8, a beat step pro and a keystep, and sometimes an akai mpk 8 sampler. If it helps I didn't really use any soft synths until playing with the trackers, since I started playing with synths to escape my laptop, but still play with machines. the question for me is, should i stick with the sunvox, which has felt like a joy to use, or set my sights on acquiring a polyend tracker. I'm making music entirely for fun, and didn't really get into synths into I found myself stuck at home with poor health a couple of years ago. I've really enjoyed the way the tracker invites me to think about music and composition, so I'm pretty committed to continuing to use one in music creation. ![]() it's lightweight, but even on a $12 computer (Pocket chip) it is still a powerful, powerful synth with a UI that really let's me jump into the tracker. I decided to explore trackers as much as possible and proceeded to download the milky tracker software for my Mac, used renoise for a bit, and then dug up a pocket chip I acquired while teaching and started playing with the sunvox tracker. When the polyend tracker was introduced around the start of our shelter in place order in california (roughly early March), I was totally intrigued by tracker software and thought I might save for it, even though I'm recently disabled and since I live in the USA that means I better get used to the limited and diminishing horizon of the rest of my life, but anyway. ![]()
